Galvanized Steel
The term “galvanized” refers to the coating that is used to protect steel from getting rusted. It is coated with a layer of zinc. The more zinc that is used in the coating, the higher the “grade” level. For example, a sheet (or coil) that has a G-90 rating has had more zinc added during the galvanizing process.
Galvanized steel is most used by the HVAC industry to fabricate duct work for air-control systems. It can also be used to make decking, fences, metal studs and lighting fixtures to name a few.
